{c:Spoken intro}
In Australia, Christmas comes in the middle of a very hot summer
So when Santa Claus delivers his presents
He's not taken around by reindeer because
They can't stand the terrible heat
He's taken around by six big, white, old man kangaroos
Called the six white boomers

{c:verse 1}
[C]Early on one Christmas day
A [F]joey kanga-[C]roo
Was [C]far from home and lost
In a [D7]great, big [G7]zoo.
"[C]Mommy? Where's my mommy?
They've [F]taken her a-[C]way."
"We'll [C]↓help you find your mummy, Son
Hop up on the sleigh."

{c:verse 2}
So [C]up inside the bag of toys
[F]Little Joey [C]hopped
[C]But they hadn't gone far when [D7]Santa [G7]stopped
Un-[C]harnessed all the reindeer
And [F]Joey wondered [C]why
[C]Then he heard a far off, [G7]booming in the [C]↓sky
(boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom)

{c:verse 3}
[C]Pretty soon old Santa [F]began to feel the [C]heat
[C]Took his fur-lined boots off to [D7]cool his [G7]feet
[C]Into one popped Joey
[F]Feelin' quite O-[C]K
[C]While those old man kangaroos kept [G7]pullin' on the [C]sleigh

Then [C]Joey said to Santa, "Santa, [F]what about the [C]toys?
[C]Aren't you giving some to these [D7]girls and [G7]boys?"
[C]"Well, they've all had their presents, Sonny,
[F]We were here last [C]night
[C]This trip is an extra trip
[G7]Joey's special [C]flight"

{c:verse 5}
[C]Soon the sleigh was flashing past
Right [F]over Marble [C]Bar
[C]"Slow down there!" cried Santa
[D7]"It can't be [G7]far.
[C]Hop up on my lap here, Son,
[F]And have a look [C]around"
"[C]↓There she is! That's mommy! Bounding up and down!"

{c:verse 6}
[C]Well, that's the bestest Christmas treat
That [F]Joey ever [C]had
[C]Curled up in mother's pouch feeling [D7]snug and [G7]glad
The [C]last they saw was Santa heading [F]northwards from the [C]sun
The [C]↓only year the boomers [G7]worked a double [C]run
