June’s music: The Roaring ’20s

Next circle: Tuesday, June 5
7–9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina

Here is the new music for the next circle.:

These ones are already in our collection:

Singin’ in the Bathtub was the inspiration for the very first Looney Tunes cartoon, Sinkin’ in the Bathtub. Keep an ear out, as it features another song from this month’s list.

Looking ahead: For the circle on July 3, don’t forget – we’re taking a trip to the Malty National brewery! Between songs, brewery co-founder Adam will man the taps for anyone who would like a drink.

June 5: Music from the 1920s

Next circle: Tuesday, June 5
7–9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Sask.

June takes us back almost a century to the ukulele’s heyday. Send in your suggestions for your favourite music from the 1920.

In addition, we already have these in our collection:

Music for May: Female singer-songwriters

Next circle: Tuesday, May 1
7–9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Sask.

I’ve prepared four new songs for May’s circle. Thank you, everyone, for the suggestions.

I’ll warn you now, Closer to Fine is a finger stretcher, but it was also the most requested song and this is the easiest version of the chords I could find. I’ve linked to a video of someone playing this arrangement on ukulele.

We’ll also play these favourites from our song book:

See you all next week!

May 1: Female singer-songwriters

Next circle: May 1, 2018
7–9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Sask.

First off, a huge thank you to everyone who came out to our anniversary circle. I had a lot of fun and all the soloists sounded amazing!

May’s theme is female singer-songwriters. I’ve been given a few suggestions, but we have plenty of room for more.

  • You’re So Vain – Carly Simon
  • River Road – Sylvia Tyson
  • You Were on My Mind – Sylvia Tyson

I’ve also had requests for Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLaughlin, Sarah Harmer, Melissa Etheridge, Jewel, Lisa Loeb and Indigo Girls. Are there any specific songs people want to play?

If you want to get a head start on June’s circle, we’re dusting off the pianola rolls for music from the 1920s.

April’s circle: Our 4th anniversary

Next circle: April 3
7-9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina

I’m still sad I had to cancel March’s circle, but we’ll make up for it in April with our three new Beatles songs:

April is our fourth anniversary so, as has become tradition, we’ll flip the usual evening around and members of the group can share a song they’ve been working on or lead us in their favourite tune. After that, we’ll open up the floor to your suggestions.

See you in April!

No circle tonight

I’m sorry this is so last minute, but my street hasn’t been cleared and there is no way I can get out tonight. I hate to do this, but I’m going to have to cancel.

The store is still set up if anyone who makes it down wants to jam.

I will see you all in April for our fourth anniversary. I’ve already started working on a solo and I hope a few of you have, too.

Dave

Music for March: With the Beatles

Next circle: Tuesday, March 6
7–9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina

We’re adding a few more Beatles classics to our collection.

Plus we’ve got plenty of old favourites:

Can’t wait to see you all on Tuesday. Happy strumming!

Next circle: With the Beatles

Tuesday, March 6
7–9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK

Thank you for a great circle in February. I hope the love songs (and not-so-love songs) got you ready for Valentine’s Day.

March is going to be all about the Beatles. We’ve got quite a few Beatles songs in our collection already, but if you have any favourites you’d like to add, please send them my way.

Don’t forget, April is our anniversary and your chance to dazzle the rest of the group with a solo or group performance!

February’s circle: Love songs and heartache

Tuesday, February 6
7-9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Sask.

Valentine’s Day is around the corner so we’ve lined up a mix of love songs and breakup songs.

Did you realize our birthday is just around the corner?! April 2018 will mark our fourth anniversary and, has become tradition, we’re going to open up the floor to anyone who wants to share their talents and favourite songs with the group.

Music for January

Tuesday, January 2
7–9 PM
Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina

With windchills dipping into the minus 40s, here some music to remind that summer is just a few short months away. We have one new song and a few more from our song book.

And here are a few warm weather/summer songs we’ve played before:
