It’s September. Kids are heading back to school, summer vacations are over, and we’re going back to the shop.
For this month’s theme, send me you favourite “work songs”. For example: “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”, “Making It Work” and “Take This Job and Shove It”.

It’s summertime and Laura and Murray have invited us to spend the next circle on their deck.
There won’t be any new songs. We’ve gotΒ more than 200 songsΒ in our collection, so let’s take turns picking our favourites.
I can’t post their address publicly, but I’ve sent it to the mailing list. (The sign up form is to your right.)
We’ll be back at the shop in September.
Welcome to all those who attended the Regina Public Library’s Introduction to the Ukulele workshop.
There are many fantastic ukulele websites out there. Here are some to get you started:
Also, check out the music on our site. The songs marked with an asterisk (*) are great for beginners.
Here’s some more Canadiana for our library:

- Sudbury Saturday Night β Stompin’ Tom Connors (1967)
- Sunglasses at Night β Corey Hart (1984)
And, because I missed a request from last month’s “guilty pleasures” circle, here’s some ABBA for Angie.
- Dancing Queen β ABBA (1976)
See you all at the brewery!
It’s Canada Day! Or the day after, at any rate. Send in your favourite Canadian songs, whether they are by Canadians or about this great country.
Don’t forget! This month we’re taking another trip to Malty National Brewing Company.
Life’s too short for music snobbery! We’ve got a few new songs to get people moving despite what critics may think.
- All Star β Smash Mouth (1999)
- Down at the Twist and Shout β Mary Chapin Carpenter (1991)
- Lola β The Kinks (1970)
- …Baby One More Time β Britney Spears (1998), Travis (1999)
The critics may roll their eyes, but every time you hear it, you just have to crank the radio and sing along.
You’re among friends. Share your favourite “guilty pleasures” with the group.
Here’s the music for the next circle:
- (Theme from) The Monkees β The Monkees (1966)
- * I’m A Believer β Neil Diamond (1966), The Monkees (1966), Smash Mouth (2001)

We did the Fab Four a couple of months ago, so let’s honour the recent passing of Peter Tork by celebrating the music of the Pre-Fab Four.
Send in your favourite songs from Peter, Davy, Micky and Michael.
Holy cow! Half a decade of strumming and singing!
If we were a child, we’d be starting school. If we were a cheese, we’d be one of those fancy ones in the special deli cooler.
I’m not preparing any new music, but you can! We’ll start the evening with an open mic, play a few of our favourites and we’ll finish the night across the street at Bushwakkers.
