If we were a child, we’d be starting school. If we were a cheese, we’d be one of those fancy ones in the special deli cooler.
I’m not preparing any new music, but you can! We’ll start the evening with an open mic, play a few of our favourites and we’ll finish the night across the street at Bushwakkers.
A quick public service announcement. With the cold, cold air that’s been hanging over the province, don’t forget to protect your ukuleles! All ukuleles can dry out and crack, but those with solid tops are especially vulnerable. An instrument humidifier is a worthwhile investment to keep your uke happy for years to come.
Someone asked for love songs. Someone else asked for Beatles songs. Why not both?! Send in your favourite from the Fab Four and/or one that makes your heart go pitter-patter.
Don’t forget! April 2 is our 5th anniversary circle and we will have our traditional open mic. Anyone who wants to take a solo or perform as a group is invited to share a favourite song.
Also, dues for the year are now, well, due. It’s only $10 and helps cover our costs such as renting space at Malty National.
Speaking of which, thanks again to our friends at Malty National for hosting January’s circle. We had a really big crowd and I hope to see you all at Sawchyn Guitars in February!
We’re a week away from the first ukulele circle of 2019. We’re at Malty National Brewing Corp this month. Beer will be served, but all ages are welcome. We’ll be back home at Sawchyn Guitars in February.
Thanks for all your song suggestions. I’ve lined up five new songs to add to our repertoire.
Let’s kick off 2019 with another trip to Malty National. Although it’s a brewery, they are family friendly and all ages are welcome. For those who want to partake, beer will be available.
Remember! The first Tuesday is New Year’s Day so we’re moving the circle to January 8.
I’ve got a couple of songs prepared—”Riptide” by Vance Joy and “Don’t Stop Believin’” By Journey—but there’s still time to send a couple more my way.
Happy Holidays to everyone out there. No matter how you celebrate, I hope you’ve been able to spend time with loved ones and good music.
Due to the power outage that took out most of Regina and the surrounding area, we have to cancel tonight’s ukulele circle. We will reschedule for next week.
Next circle: Tuesday, December 11 7–9 PM Sawchyn Guitars, 2132 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Sask.
I hope to see you all next week. For those who can’t make it, I wish the best of the season to you and yours.
